In 1998, the Sacramento Links created the Achievers program to invest in the success of AA young men. More than 400 male high school seniors participated in the six-month leadership development and college preparation program. Every Achiever graduated and attended college, and program alums have gone on to become successful businessmen, entrepreneurs, teachers, nonprofit and civic leaders. In 2018, the Sacramento Links decided to build upon the legacy of our Achievers program and redesign the program to ensure its relevance and impact for today’s AA high achieving youth (male & female). After a year-long planning effort, we launched our Black Achievers Creating Change program in 2019.

The Sacramento Links are uniquely positioned to implement such a program because of our high level of professional expertise as well as our array of professional, personal and community connections to the civic, corporate, and public sectors. The Achievers Program offers us the opportunity to truly serve as links between our AA young people to provide the exposure, experiences, knowledge, and role models that can ensure that they, too, become successful AA professional men and women, as well as community leaders.
